Incorporated in 1971 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Human Life of Washington aims to advance prolife values across the state of Washington to advance prolife culture and values across our state.
Led by Esther Ripplinger, CEO, our chapters operate throughout the state of Washington as ‘boots on the ground’ engaging the community with innovative and visible prolife activities year-round.
Our mission is to inform the public about life-affirming options to foster a culture that cherishes every individual, regardless of age or circumstance.

Human Life of Washington promotes the recognition that all human beings are persons endowed with intrinsic dignity and the inalienable right to life, from conception to natural death. We advocate through educational, legislative, and judicial efforts.
Whether speaking in various venues, including schools, civic groups, churches, or by staffing booths and conversing with attendees at fairs, our network of chapters, in concert with our state office, serve as a premier resource center on all the life issues.
We offer life-affirming referrals for women with unexpected pregnancies, and direct her to specialists, to social services agencies, and life-affirming non-governmental organizations to assist her with her pregnancy needs regardless of her income level, education, or race. Our chapters engage the community to support these centers through tangible supplies, including diapers and formula, that their clients need.
Volunteering with Human Life of Washington offers individuals a meaningful opportunity to support life-affirming activities and connect with others who share a passion for protecting the dignity of every person. Whether you join us at a community event, participate in educational outreach, or serve within a local chapter, your time and talents help amplify our impact across the state. Volunteers are essential in carrying out our mission, assisting with events, spreading awareness, and providing compassionate support to those we serve.

Human Life of Washington has a long-standing policy to never use force, intimidation, or violence by any person while pursuing pro-life activities.
Our commitment to the well-being of all human life requires that we respect the inherent value and dignity of all people. Just as we condemn abortion and euthanasia, we oppose private acts that take human life, inflict bodily harm, or destroy another’s property. No board member, officer, employee, or chapter may participate in any illegal or harmful act against another person or property in pursuing pro-life activity.
Human Life of Washington will not use graphic images to promote our mission and will not knowingly conduct business with any organization or business which endorses violence toward pro-abortion persons or businesses.
Human Life of Washington believes that these strategies are counterproductive to our mission to advance our cause through respectful dialogue and education.

founding & early years –
Starting in 1971, Human Life of Washington Rooted began as a grassroots movement dedicated to compassionate outreach and community engagement with a goal to uphold the value of every human life.
Sparked by a group of committed individuals who recognized the urgent need for respectful advocacy, HLW quickly grew into a statewide organization. Over the years, HLW has worked tirelessly to promote the dignity of life from conception onward, building partnerships with local chapters, faith communities, and educational groups.
Through decades of challenges and triumphs, HLW has remained steadfast in its commitment to nonviolence, empathy, and education. The organization’s influence has expanded through ongoing public awareness campaigns, legislative engagement, and vibrant programs that support families and individuals in need.
Today, HLW stands as a testament to what dedicated people can accomplish when guided by respect, hope, and the unwavering belief in the dignity of all.
